Tesla CEO Elon Musk has vehemently denied recent drug use claims made by the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times. Musk presented a clean drug test result to counter the allegations, which suggested he abused substances during his involvement with the Trump administration. He further challenged reporters from both publications to undergo and publish their own drug test results, labeling them "hypocrites."
Musk Counters Drug Allegations with Clean Test
The Wall Street Journal and New York Times published reports alleging Elon Musk's drug abuse, including substances like ketamine, ecstasy, psychedelic mushrooms, and Adderall, during his time with the Trump administration.
These reports cited unnamed "inside sources" for their claims.
Musk publicly shared results from a drug test conducted at Fastest Labs of South Austin, which showed "Negative" across all categories, effectively refuting the claims.
A Challenge to the Media
Musk did not stop at presenting his test results. He criticized the New York Times, stating they "lie as easy as breathing.
He issued a direct challenge to reporters from both the Times and the Wall Street Journal to take and publish their own drug test results.
Musk asserted that these publications would not comply because, in his words, "those hypocrites are guilty as sin."
Past Ketamine Use Addressed
Musk previously disclosed that he had received ketamine prescriptions from doctors to treat depression "years ago."
He clarified that this past use was not new information, having shared it on X (formerly Twitter) previously.
Musk stated that ketamine "helps for getting out of dark mental holes" but confirmed he had not taken it since that time.
Public Reaction and Speculation
Following the allegations and Musk's response, many fans and enthusiasts humorously suggested that if Musk were indeed on drugs, other CEOs should consider similar habits, given his intense work ethic and long hours.
The clean test results appear to have dispelled the rumors, though Musk has not indicated any legal action against the publications at this time.
