If you think you know what the Tesla Model Y SUV is all about, guess again. The 2025 model features all-new hidden gems that even connoisseurs wouldn't have imagined.
So if you've thought about the possibility of upgrading - or getting your very first EV - read on. We will give you the low-down on all the minute upgrades of this year’s amazing new model, and illustrate its clear superiority above the rest.

Ditch the rest
And while you're at it, you can get rid of that old clunker you've got sitting in the garage. Once you've secured your new Tesla Model Y, you won't need anything else when it comes to wheels.
Did you know you can get $1,000 for junk cars? It's true. Haul your old car into a junk car removal place and walk away with a nice handful of cash. So get ready to clear out some space and make room for your fabulous new wheels.
New features for 2025
While some of these features might be noticeable to fanatics, many people will fail to notice them. So it pays to list all the minute upgrades that you'll be getting this year.
Engine and power upgrades
The Model Y features a dual-motor powertrain with all-wheel drive. This is, without question, the most advanced electric all-wheel drive that you can get. It allows for unparalleled control and stability, particularly on difficult or slippery roads.
Beyond this, you will get a single motor rear-wheel drive option and Performance trim with extra power.
Battery life
Battery life is always one of the biggest questions when it comes to electric vehicles, particularly big ones like SUVs. The new Model Y will get 320 miles of driving per charge. This maximum mileage depends somewhat on the wheel size - if you choose the standard 19-inch option, you should be able to get close to maximum mileage. If you choose the 20-inch wheel option, you might get a bit less. In any case, the battery is an upgrade from previous models.
Interior and exterior materials
The Model Y is similar to the Model 3 sedan in that it has received some of the same upgrades in trimmings. With the Model Y, you'll get headlamps connected by a full-width light bar along the front of the car. In addition, the interior materials have been upgraded, and the front seats have been given improved ventilation. You'll also get a rear-seat passenger display.
In terms of the overall layout, the Model Y is a clear cut above the Model X. If you remember the Model X, it had very funky looking Falcon Wing-style doors. The Model Y does away with that for a smoother appearance. In place of all the buttons that controlled the Model X's interior functions, the Model Y does away with them altogether. Instead, the Model Y offers a large infotainment display that is accessible to everyone in the car. It also comes with a sleek tinted glass roof that will let light in but not drown passengers in sunlight.
The infotainment system
This is where the Model Y really goes above and beyond. The infotainment system is a veritable masterpiece. It is a comprehensive system that controls basically every internal function in the car. Everything from the air conditioner to the speed can be seen on the system.
And the entertainment system is truly out of this world. With everything from Netflix to video games embedded in the system, you can entertain passengers with simply the push of a button.
Safety features
No description would be complete without covering the car's safety features. The Model Y includes Tesla’s full self-driving system. It is a bit of a misnomer, of course, as it doesn't fully self-drive. It can be extremely helpful on long trips, though, especially when drivers get tired.
The Model Y also has standard automated emergency braking and pedestrian detection. It also has adaptive cruise control and a lane-centering feature for drivers who tend to veer sideways. All of these things can come in especially handy with SUVs, as centering and maintaining spatial awareness are always two of the biggest challenges for drivers.
